It works right away, you should have your own battery for water proof remote from 3v to 12v, length of the battery should be at least 24mm in length. Have not tested transmission distance. The module itself should work up to about 27V (30V MOSFET), but 78L05 regulator states that 20V ia recommended. For use with 34V LED's (20W+), i would recommend replacing MOSFET with at least 40V one and regulator to one that supports up to 35V input voltage, or small buck converter / external 5V power. The case of dimmer is comically big, but i have bought it for the PCB with remote, so it is ok, has about 30 levels of dimming.
